A Unique Christmas Gift for a New Homeowner

December 11, 2008

I was recently looking for a gift that could, well… kill two birds with one stone.  I wanted something that could be great for Christmas but also serve as a fun house warming gift as well.  I found many things that would work but nothing that made my socks role up and down.  Then I found the cutest little yard sign and immediately knew that was it!

For those of us who are really busy around the holidays, and who isn’t, it’s great to find new places to purchase gifts year round.  It seems like I find a new fun place to shop almost every holiday season.  I’d love to know where you shop whether it be online or in your neighborhood.  That’s just one of the things I feel good Realtors offer their clients; knowledge about what they might need once they move in, from electricians to grocery staores.

December 5, 2008

Interest rates have come down quite a bit over the last week and there is talk of them coming down even further.  Do I believe the word on the street?  I don’t know.  I have heard things like this before that have not come to pass and other times they have.  I do know that if you are currently in the market to buy a home now would be a good time to do so, if you have everything else in place.  It’s never a good time if you are having to force the issue.

I know of several other people who are waiting for rates to go down some more in order to refinance their current home.  It will be interesting to hear if what I was told at a holiday party this week is going to come tofruition or not.  The lower rates may only be for buyers of homes and not for those who want to refinance.  I’m not sure how the mortgage companies or government would enforce this but it is interesting.  Theydefinitely want those who can to purchase a home right now and help out the economy.  If you’re looking for real estate in the Hendersonville, TN area there are some great deals right now if the time is right for you.

Features That Set a House Apart

October 25, 2008

There are a couple of great features associated with the new listing in Thompsons Station that I want to share with you.  One is a swim spa by Royal Swim Spas that is just fantastic.  I have done some research and it is both low maintenance and energy efficient compared to most other types of similar equipment and doesn’t take up much space at all.

In fact the owner of the home has made the spa a central element in the Champion Sunroom that has been built on the back of the house.  The sunroom alone is quiet wonderful and lends to the overall atmosphere of the house.  When you add the sporty swim spa to the room it creates an oasis of water fun right in the middle of the neighborhood.  While you may want to investigate both of these great amenities for your home, if you are looking to buy a home that already has them, just let me know.

The State of Nashville Real Estate

October 17, 2008

Nashville real estate is doing better than pretty much anywhere else around the country.  If nothing more, we are holding our own.  While there are those who complain about interest rates, not being able to sell their homes or not know if now is the right time to buy or not, there are others who are selling their homes, finding loans with good interest rates and buying homes.

It really is all about perspective.  When things were rocking in the Nashville Real Estate market, buyers complained about not being able to get the house they really wanted because they were getting outbid at every turn.  Today, while there is no guarantee you won’t get outbid, it’s not as crazy as it once was a few years back so it’s a great time to buy if you are in the market for a primary residence.

If you want to purchase a rental property or an investment property, you will need to do your homework and investigate your finance options.  Of course, if you are in a cash position right now, there are a lot of properties for you to choose from.  That old saying, “cash is king”, is definitely true for today’s investor.

It’s Been an Interesting Week

October 13, 2008

<!–[if !mso]> <! st1\:*{behavior:url(#ieooui) } –>

It has been a most interesting week and weekend for the financial climate for the nation and our world.  No one knows how long it will take for things to get back to some semblance of normality but it does look like our government and the private sectors are at least taking some actions that are starting to make a difference.

How will these changes translate to the local level?  This is really what we need to know since most of us purchase and sell our services or wares on a local level.

Hopefully, these changes will loosen up the credit market so local companies can borrow the money they need to stay in business and keep people employed.  Making sure jobs are available and people are working seems to be one of the most, if not the most important parts of recovery.  There are more people employed by small businesses than in any other sector so I am hopeful these people are considered as well in any decision making that goes on.

One of the greatest things about America is its people.  We are a creative and resourceful bunch and there’s nothing like a challenge to bring out the best in us all.  No matter what others, the government or other companies are doing think about what you can do to make your life and the lives of those around you better.

Check Out East Nashville

October 11, 2008

If you are looking for a great place to live and experience, you must take a look at East Nashville.  You will not find another part of town that has the mix of people and excitement that you find on this side of town.

East Nashville, a.k.a. the place Oprah grew up, started a renewal before the tornado hit in 1998.  Since that time the renewal has continued to grow and build and East Nashville is becoming one of the most sought out places to live in the Nashville area.  You can walk to your favorite restaurants, a couple of 5 star, coffee shops and neighborhood bars and clubs.

With the addition of a group of health practitioners, a full service gym and a growing condo community, the East side is just starting to come into its own.  There is so much potential in this area as it sits right to the east of Downtown Nashville with easy access over the Gateway Bridge to all the downtown amenities including the Tennessee Titans, the symphony, TPAC and the arts district.  Just a great place to live!

Lake Living

October 7, 2008

If you are able, this is a great time to be looking at lake front property.  Many people get the bug to look at lake front property at the beginning of spring when prices tend to trend higher.  It makes since that if you are serious about wanting to live on a lake, now is the time to move.

I personally love living on Old Hickory Lake in Hendersonville, TN and invite you to take a look during this fall and winter.  Especially since prices are holding steady and in some cases dropping a little.  However, you must remember lake living in itself in an amenity and comes at a bit of a higher price.  However, it is worth it!

Take some time and view properties around the lake.  You will love the location and how quickly you can get to downtown Nashville and the surrounding areas.
