Interest rates have come down quite a bit over the last week and there is talk of them coming down even further. Do I believe the word on the street? I don’t know. I have heard things like this before that have not come to pass and other times they have. I do know that if you are currently in the market to buy a home now would be a good time to do so, if you have everything else in place. It’s never a good time if you are having to force the issue.
I know of several other people who are waiting for rates to go down some more in order to refinance their current home. It will be interesting to hear if what I was told at a holiday party this week is going to come tofruition or not. The lower rates may only be for buyers of homes and not for those who want to refinance. I’m not sure how the mortgage companies or government would enforce this but it is interesting. Theydefinitely want those who can to purchase a home right now and help out the economy.
